Agronanotechnology for Plant Fungal Disease Management: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Crop cultivators continually battle with fungal diseases affecting their crops. Plant pathogenic fungi must be controlled if consumer demand in developed countries for premium quality and diverse foods is to be met; while high quality cereals, fruits and vegetables are an indicator of economic growth in developing countries. Commercial agriculture relies heavily upon high inputs of chemical pesticides to protect crops against pathogens and pests. The resistance of pests and plant pathogens against pesticides and fungicides is rapidly becoming a serious problem. These practices are currently being reevaluated due to concerns about the possible health and environmental consequences. Growing consumer awareness towards the use of these chemical compounds is beginning to direct farmers into the investigation of alternative chemical control measures. Nanotechnology has emerged as a tool to explore the darkest avenues of Science and technology research and promises a pool of research and opportunities in areas of medicine and healthcare, biotechnology, materials and manufacturing, energy, information ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 3 Number 10 (2014) pp. 71-84 http://www.ijcmas.com

متن کاملDistribution of Pistachio Die-Back in Khorasan-Razavi Province and Application of Some Fungicides for the Disease Control
The die-back of pistachio is one of the most important diseases affecting pistachio trees reducing yield production. In commercial fields, sampling was done from nine different pistachio production areas in Mahvelat, Khorasan Razavi province during 2008-2010. In each orchard, samples were taken from tree branches with canker during spring and summer seasons. Fungal species were identified based...

During 2000 and 2001, the prevalence of fungal diseases of alfalfa was surveyed underenvironmental conditions in Zanjan province, Iran. In total, 15 genera of fungal pathogens wereisolated from plants sampled from the fields. All of these disease interactions had not been previouslyrecorded in Zanjan and Colletotrichum truncatum, Leptotrochila medicaginis, Phoma medicaginis,Rhizoctonia crocorum...
متن کاملCan vessel dimension explain tolerance toward fungal vascular wilt diseases in woody plants? Lessons from Dutch elm disease and esca disease in grapevine
This review illuminates key findings in our understanding of grapevine xylem resistance to fungal vascular wilt diseases. Grapevine (Vitis spp.) vascular diseases such as esca, botryosphaeria dieback, and eutypa dieback, are caused by a set of taxonomically unrelated ascomycete fungi. Fungal colonization of the vascular system leads to a decline of the plant host because of a loss of the xylem ...

Charcoal rot diseases of melon caused by Macrophomina phaseolina is one of the most important diseases of melon occurring in regions with variable climate. Reduction of yield of melon by this disease has been reported up to 100% in some of Garmsar field. Salinity which can cause the important trouble in plant metabolism and nutrition is present in Semnan and Garmsar areas. Melon is susceptible ...
